Longwood School & Nursery
Longwood School and Nursery is located in Bushey in Hertfordshire and offers excellent care and education for all children aged 3 months to 11 years, any time between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday throughout the year.
We strive to equip children with all the relevant skills and knowledge to see them off into high school and beyond. We love to promote life skills and socialising skills as well as we feel they are just as important as the education side of things. We have 4 nursery groups and 6 school classes, each of which are held in bright spacious and airy rooms. They also offer a large range of age appropriate equipment to help them learn and play.
We are a family owned school, that first established in 1978. Ever since we first opened, we have grown and become one of the top schools in the area under the drive and determination of our headteacher. We have come a long way since then and we couldn’t be prouder! We continue to thrive having consolidated with some key staff including our head of our nursery Mrs Beverley Akpan and in our main school, our headteacher, Mrs Claire May.
Longwood’s mission throughout our school and nursery school is clear – We aim to always treat every child with respect and consideration, in a stimulating, healthy and safe environment. We help each child to achieve their highest potential, in all areas of life and we do everything we can to make sure that every child feels happy and comfortable.
Our success is obvious and is recognised within the local community and by OFSTED since 1978. As soon as you walk in, you will be embraced by a friendly, family atmosphere and you will always be greeted with a smile. You only have to meet our pupils at any age to see that they all have a strong sense of purpose and a strong sense of love for the place.
Our Year 6 pupils have all the relevant skills and knowledge to move on to a wide variety of secondary schools, both state and independent. The list of schools and the scholarships awarded is impressive in our eyes. Academically, they can hold their own as we work hard to instill in them a real passion for learning. Such success is largely attributed to our dedicated and professional team, and we and the parents can’t praise them higher!
We are proud of the fact that we form a strong relationship with all of our parents and with the local community. We use local amenities to help with their learning such as: Bushey Grove Leisure Centre for our PE lessons, Astroturf sports, tennis and swimming as well as St James’ Church, and Bushey Hall Golf Club for after-school golf.
We have a long tradition of supporting charities too. We love to give something back and continue to support those that need it. Some of our recent achievements include our older children holding a swimathon to raise funds for a local charity named Ali’s Dream. We held a whole school fundraiser to support Muscular Dystrophy, a cause close to our hearts and we regularly support Children in Need, Cancer Research and other national and global charities.
